About Maritime Dossier
Maritime Dossier is a permanent home for serious discussion on safety, audits, crewing, and the business of shipping. A post on social media has its moment and then it’s history; an entry here stays — a growing archive built to be useful for years, for whoever needs it next. It’s a small attempt to give something back to an industry that deserves that kind of permanence.
What we write about
There are no fixed beats. We write what is useful to the people running ships, fleets and claims, and let the topics follow the work. Topics so far: Safety & Operations · Industry & Commercial · Vetting & Audits · Crewing & Welfare. New ones are added as the articles arrive.
Who we are
Maritime Dossier is an independent publication, edited by Capt. Gaurav Khanna, a Master Mariner and a director of Vraga Ventures Pvt Ltd, which hosts the site. It publishes analysis and commentary by practising seafarers and shore-side professionals, not news.
There is currently no advertising, sponsored content or paid placement, and nothing is published in exchange for payment, gifts or favours. No contributor is paid, and their views are their own.
The editor also founded VragaMarine, a maritime safety consultancy, and is involved in The Sarcastic Mariner, a separate satirical site. Where an article touches on the work, clients or employer of the editor or a contributor, it will say so.
Our approach
Maritime Dossier publishes considered analysis and informed opinion from people who work in the industry. Every entry has a named author and is written to stay useful, not to follow the news cycle. Where an entry relies on a regulation, report or other published source, it names it so readers can check. How we work, and how we handle corrections, is set out in our editorial standards.
